48 entries have been lodged for the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship’s ‘Battle on the Bricks’, to take place at the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway on September 15-17.
All five IMSA Sportscar Championship classes will take part in the class, including 10 entries in the headline GTP class.
There is a tight championship battle going on between all four manufacturers — Porsche, Cadillac, BMW and Acura — with four Porsches, two Cadillacs, two BMWs and two Acuras all entered for the race.
In LMP2, seven cars have been entered, all Oreca 07-Gibsons. The bronze-rated driver for the #8 Tower Motorsports car is yet to be announced, with John Farano still recovering from his crash at Laguna Seca earlier in the year. Whoever drives the car will join Louis Deletraz in the Oreca.
The same is true for the #35 TDS car, with a ‘tba’ driver listed on the entry list, to join Giedo van der Garde.
In LMP3, with nine entered cars — seven Ligiers and two Duquienes — Felipe Fraga joins Gar Robinson in the #74 Riley Ligier JS P320-Nissan, while Lance Willsey returns to the #33 Sean Creech Ligier JSP3 20, partnering Joao Barbosa.
Two young drivers will pilot the #29 Jr III Ligier, with Bijoy Garg joined by young Portuguese racer Guilherme de Oliveira. Finally the #38 Performance Tech Motorsports Ligier is back for the first time since Watkins Glen, to be driven by silver-rated Americans Alexander Koreiba amd Connor Bloum.
GTD Pro sees the usual five entries, with the #3 Corvette C8.R, #9 Pfaff Porsche 911 GT3 R, #14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3, #23 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3, and #79 WeatherTech Mercedes-AMG GT3 all entered with their usual drivers on board.
And finally, GTD is once again the largest class with 17 entries, with BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Acura, McLaren, Porsche, and Lamborghini all represented in the class.
There’s a surprise entry too, from Texas-based Lone Star Racing, who will race a Mercedes-AMG GT3. No drivers have been announced so far for the effort.
The Andretti-entered #94 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 is also back after skipping the last round at VIR, with the drivers listed as Gabby Chaves and Jarett Andretti.
