Toksport WRT has announced a change to their driver line-up for the remainder of the 2023 DTM season as Christian Engelhart is replaced by Martin Dienst.
Engelhart competed in one of the team’s Porsche 911 GT3.Rs along with teammate Tim Heinemann, and claimed the team’s first DTM race victory at Oschersleben earlier this year.
However, results have been somewhat lacklustre since then, with only one points finish, at Zandvoort, from six starts, not counting the two Oschersleben races.
“Many thanks to Toksport WRT for the seven race starts in the DTM 2023″, said Engelhart.
“Above all, I am taking with me the fantastic memories of our joint first DTM victory in Oschersleben and I would like to thank the entire team for their hard work.
“I wish the team a successful onward journey.”
Dienst has been a driver with Toksport for three years, most recently competing in the Prototype Cup Germany last year with teammate Berkay Besler.
In a grid full of LMP3 cars, the pair secured the 2022 championship title by the end of eight races and four wins.
Dienst is set to take over Toksport’s DTM race seat with four circuits left to visit on the calendar, the next of which is this weekend at Lausitzring this weekend, 19-20 August.
“Dienst’s return to Toksport WRT is a testament to the strong bond we share and the shared passion for excellence in motorsports,” commented Team Principal Seyhun Duru.
“We have witnessed Marvin’s remarkable journey and growth over the years, and we are confident that his skills and dedication will play a crucial role in propelling the team to greater heights in the DTM series.”
“I’m super excited that Toksport WRT is giving me the opportunity to drive in the DTM with them,” added Dienst.
“We have a three-year relationship with the team, which has yielded many good results.
“I hope this positive trend continues, and I will give my utmost effort to achieve the best possible results.
“The DTM is a prestigious platform and championship that every racing driver dreams of participating in.
“However, joining the DTM mid-season won’t be an easy task, considering that most of the field has already completed numerous races and tests using different setups and tire configurations.
“Nevertheless, the high level of trust that Toksport WRT has placed in me is inspiring, and I’m confident that we will carry our successful history into the DTM in the future.”
