Dani Pedrosa will make his second wildcard appearance of the 2023 MotoGP season for KTM in September’s San Marino Grand Prix at the Misano circuit, the Austrian brand has announced.
KTM confirmed that the Spaniard would take to the start at Misano prior to the German GP on Sunday at the Sachsenring, Pedrosa keen to build on the encouraging weekend he enjoyed at Jerez at the end of Aprila where he managed to secure an impressive seventh in the Spanish GP after qualifying sixth.
His San Marino outing will mark the 31-time premier class race winner’s third wildcard ride for KTM since becoming one of the marque’s test riders ahead of the 2019 season, with his only prior event before this year’s Spanish GP being in the 2021 Austrian GP at the Red Bull Ring – in which he secured a solid tenth place finish.
“The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team will again welcome the #26 RC16 into play,” began KTM’s statement confirming Pedrosa’s second wildcard event of the campaign.
“MotoGP Legend Dani Pedrosa will follow-up his popular wildcard appearance and 7th place finish in Jerez, Spain earlier this season with another race start at the Gran Premio Red Bull di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini from 8-10 September.
“The Spaniard will join Brad Binder and Jack Miller at the Misano World Circuit – Marco Simoncelli for the twelfth Grand Prix of the season this summer.
“Dani’s weekend at Misano will be followed by the second and final official mid-season IRTA test at the venue on Monday.”
