WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca has announced that it has extended its current naming rights agreement with the car accessories company.
The new deal will see the historic track continue with the WeatherTech branding for five more years, through the summer of 2028.
WeatherTech took over naming rights in 2018, replacing Mazda, which had held the rights for 17 years before.
The new deal was unanimously approved by the Monterey County Board and Supervisors, with the agreement supporting economic development in the area.
“We are thrilled to have WeatherTech continue with their support in such a meaningful and enthusiastic way,” said John Narigi, president and general manager of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
“The WeatherTech team’s enthusiasm for motorsports and our community is unmatched. We thank the Board of Supervisors who approved funding to address much-needed repairs. The race track is going to be in the best shape ever, and the Laguna Seca Recreation Area will prosper year-round and well into the future.
“WeatherTech Raceway has never been in such a prime position to succeed as it is now.”
Laguna Seca is in the middle of a refresh this summer, with a full track repave taking place ahead of a few events this fall, including the NTT IndyCar Series season finale on September 10.
The iconic bridge over the main straight was torn down as part of the renovations, and a new bridge will be placed in the same location. Numerous drainage and groundwork operations are also currently underway.
The grand reopening of the refreshed facility will take place on July 7, with the MotoAmerica Superbike Speedfest taking place on the historic track.
