Alpine will unveil its 2024 Hypercar at Le Mans, as it prepares to enter Hypercar with a two-car campaign in the top class of the FIA World Endurance Championship next year.
The team posted a teaser image of the car on Instagram, with ’09-06-23′ in the description — a clear reference to the Friday before Le Mans in under two weeks time.
The car has been built by Oreca and will be based, as you’d expect, on the Oreca next-gen LMP2 base — the same as Acura’s LMDh-rules car, which only races in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship at the moment.
Alpine currently races in the LMP2 class of the WEC, with a two-car campaign using the Alpine A470, a rebadged Oreca 07-Gibson. The team formerly raced in Hypercar for two years, in 2021 and 2022, with the Alpine A480 — itself a rebadged Rebellion R13, which is based on the Oreca 07.
Alpine have not revealed the name of the new car, neither have they revealed which engine it will use. The drivers for the programme will also be announced at a later date.
