Christian Lundgaard stormed to his maiden IndyCar pole on Friday afternoon, locking in the top spot with a faultless drive around the IMS road course.

Felix Rosenqvist nearly upset the momentous occasion by taking the top spot for himself, but was ultimately 0.003 too slow on his final lap.
Most of the Andretti Autosport drivers had a poor showing, with Kyle Kirkwood’s sixth place effort the best of the bunch.
The highest qualifying Team Penske driver is Will Power in 12th, giving that team a lot of work to complete on Saturday as well.
