AJ Foyt Racing has announced that it will once again be running an American flag themed livery for this year’s Indianapolis 500, with Santino Ferrucci piloting the patriotic car.
The theme is promoting the Homes For Our Troops nonprofit organization, which builds and donates specially-built homes to injured veterans of the military.
ABC Supply remains as the official sponsor of the #14 ride, and will match all donations made to HFOT in the month of May, up to $1 million.
The HFOT program uses nearly 90% of all donations received directly on home-building efforts, and has delivered over 350 specially adapted homes to those in need.
“Racing has given us many wonderful opportunities, but being part of the Homes For Our Troops campaign to raise awareness and help our troops who have suffered such severe injuries is a true privilege,” said A.J. Foyt, the first four-time winner of the Indianapolis 500.
“We’re proud to partner with ABC Supply to support this very worthy cause.”
The flag themed livery was run in last year’s Indy 500 as well, with JR Hildebrand taking the wheel donning a patriotic firesuit.
This year, Ferrucci will be the driver representing the cause throughout the Month of May activities, including the 107th running of the great race.
The initiative reached its $1 million donation goal last year, and hopes to do the same over the course of the next month.
The first on-track running of the special livery will be at the opening Indy 500 practice session on Tuesday, May 16.
