Ex-Formula 1driver Danil Kvyat is eyeing up a return to single-seater motorsport with an outing in the Formula E rookie test.
Kvyat made his last competitive outing in single-seaters during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2020 with AlphaTauri. He has since tested with Alpine, where he acted as a reserve driver in 2021.
The Race has reported Kvyat has undergone a seat fit and done simulator running with NIO 333 ahead of the test in Berlin at the end of the month.
The Chinese manufacturer has made some positive steps in Gen 3 with their line-up of Dan Ticktum and Sergio Sette Camara. However, the experience of a former Formula 1 racer could be beneficial for the team.
NIO 333 have yet to announce either driver as part of their test line-up, with only two teams announcing their full line-ups.
Porsche will run fellow WEC driver Yifei Ye and their reserve David Beckamann, while sister team Andretti will run F2 driver Zane Maloney and 2022 IndyNXT champion Linus Lundqvist
Kyvat spent two years largely away from competitive racing, returning to full-time competition in 2023 with Prema in the LMP2 class of the World Endurance Championship alongside team-mates Dorianne Pin and Mirko Bortoletto.
