Four people have been arrested by Italian police in connection with the theft of Charles Leclerc’s watch.
The incident occurred in April of last year, in which thieves managed to escape with the $320,000 Richard Mille watch.
According to reports at the time, Leclerc was stopped by fans who asked him for photographs and autographs and in the exchange, a thief got away with the timepiece.
The robbery occurred in the Tuscan city of Viareggio and according to Reuters, four people have now been arrested in connection to the incident.
The police said in a statement they found two “valuable watches, the provenance of which will be investigated further,” while conducting a search in one of the suspect’s houses
However, Reuters added that “an investigative source said it was not yet possible to say if either of the watches found were the one stolen from Leclerc”.
Leclerc is not the only F1 driver that has been targeted in recent times – at the Euro 2020 final from Wembley Stadium, he too was robbed of a luxury watch.
A recent court case on the matter resulted in the emergence of further details, with a violent exchange seeing Norris wrapped in a headlock by one suspect, while the other stripped the watch from his wrist.
“Suspect One pulled me into him and pulled me back on my neck, meaning I was facing the sky and I couldn’t see him at this point,” Norris said.
“Suspect One told Suspect Two to grab my watch. He shouted multiple times: ‘Grab the watch’. Suspect One was holding me the whole time and Suspect Two was trying to grab the watch. He struggled for a while and then used force to pull the watch off, leaving scratches on my arm.”
