McLaren will be able to call upon Aston Martin reserve pair Felipe Drugovich and Stoffel Vandoorne in 2023 if needed.
Drugovich, last year’s Formula 2 champion, joined Aston Martin as its reserve driver for 2023 while the team also appointed reigning Formula E champion Vandoorne.
Vandoorne started all 41 of his Formula 1 grands prix for McLaren across 2016-18.
The duo will provide back-up to Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll in 2023 but on Monday Aston Martin and McLaren revealed an arrangement covering the first 15 grands prix of the season.
McLaren will also be able to call upon the services of Mercedes reserve Mick Schumacher if required.
The outfit additionally has 2021 IndyCar champion Alex Palou, who made his grand prix weekend debut in Austin last year, on its books as a reserve driver.
