Campos have confirmed their driver line-up in Formula 3 for 2023 by announcing that Josep Maria Marti will return for a second season with the team.
After briefly making an outing for the Spanish outfit in the 2021 post-season test, Marti was promoted to a race seat for 2022, but he largely struggled to produce results in his debut campaign in the series.
It took the Spaniard until the final Sprint Race event for him to claim his only two points pf the year and he ended up a lowly 26th in the Drivers’ standings.
However, Marti, who has also been competing in the Formula Regional Middle East Championship over the winter, tested for Campos again in Jerez at the conclusion of last year and has been given a second chance with the side in the third-tier category for 2023.
The 17-year-old driver will team up alongside Hugh Barter and Christian Mansell as Campos look to advance beyond the eighth-place finish they achieved in last season’s standings.
“I’m very pleased to continue my involvement in the FIA Formula 3 Championship with Campos Racing for 2023,” Marti said after his F3 place for this year was confirmed.
“We completed a promising season, constantly learning and improving our results, and the season came to an end with very positive testing sessions. I hope to have a strong season and continue my positive feedback with the team.”
“It’s such a pleasure to have Pepe (Martí) with us for a third consecutive season, because our goal has always been to help our drivers through the single-seater pyramid towards F1, and Pepe is a perfect example,” Campos Team Principal Adrian Campos Jr added.
“He is one of those that make up our large family and we are looking forward to achieving strong results together in his second FIA F3 season, because our team has plenty of trust placed in him.”
