The #31 Action Express Cadillac is back out on track after suffering from chassis linkage problems around the rear end of the car, with a specific left suspension issue caused by a GT car hitting the back end.
The team was running well early on, with Jack Aitken leading a substantial period of one of his stints, but this issue has taken them largely out of the running for the win. They now sit 15 laps down with eight and half hours to go.
A team representative told MotorsportWeek.com that the left rear suspension broke when a GT car hit the #31 Cadillac at the Bus Stop / Le Mans chicane. The car was taken back to the garage, the entire back end of the car was replaced, Aitken got out and Pipo Derani climbed in to take the car back out on track.
Interestingly, Cadillac has had a V-LMDh transmission sitting in the garage for much of the race. The team representative said it was sitting there waiting for exactly this kind of situation, to cover all eventualities.
