UPDATE: Shortly after publishing, the #60 Meyer Shank Acura came into the pits with a large chunk missing from the right rear endplate. The car is now 6th in GTP, having had the rear deck replaced. Renger van der Zande now leads the GTP class in the #01 Cadillac V-LMDh.
Colin Braun, behind the wheel of the #60 Meyer Shank Acura ARX-06 leads the 24 Hours of Daytona two hours in, 2 second gap to Renger van der Zande in the #01 Cadillac V-LMDh.
Tom Blomqvist started the leading Meyer Shank Acura, keeping the lead and pulling out an 11 second gap. However, pit stops and traffic has seen this gap cut to two. Van der Zande’s teammate Sebastien Bourdais had a great start to get the car into second early on, where it remains, although did briefly drop to fourth as Ricky Taylor briefly made it an Acura 1-2 in the #10 Wayne Taylor Acura ARX-06.
Third in GTP is Taylor’s teammate Louis Deletraz, who has taken over the #10 Wayne Taylor Acura, around 13 seconds off the lead.
However, it hasn’t been totally smooth running in the top GTP class. The #25 BMW M Hybrid V8 has spent around an hour in the garage after driver Nick Yellowy stopped the car on track, with the car suffering from a hybrid issue. The car has been taken apart in the garage and is still there as of the time of writing.
Matthieu Jaminet is in the first of the Porsches, #6 Porsche 963. Jack Aitken is fifth in the #31 Action Express Cadillac, followed by Matt Campbell in the #7 Porsche 963. Seventh is Richard Westbrook in the #02 Cadillac, which has stopped once more than the other GTPs as the team pitted the car under threat of a yellow, although this didn’t materialise in the end.
Eighth is the #24 BMW M Hybrid V8 with Augusto Farfus behind the wheel. The car recently received a drive through penalty for too many crew working on the car at a pitstop. The #25 BMW remains in the pits.
In LMP2, Alex Quinn leads the class in the #52 PR1 Mathiasen Oreca 07-Gibson. Second is Julien Canal in the #88 AF Corse Oreca 070-Gibson, with Matt McMurry in third in the #04 Crowdstrike APR Oreca 07-Gibson.
Gar Robinson leads LMP3 in the #74 Riley Ligier JS P320, with Jarrett Andretti second driving the #36 Andretti Ligier JS P320. Third is #17 AWA Duqueine D08’s Nico Varrone.
In GTD Pro, David Pittard leads in the #23 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3. Jack Hawksworth is second in the #14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3, with Jordan Taylor third in the #3 Corvette C8.R.
Ashton Harrison is leading GTD, behind the wheel of the #93 Racers Edge Acura NSX GT3 EVO22, with Kenton Koch second in the #32 Korthoff Mercedes-AMG GT3. Third in class is the #75 SunEnergy1 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Axcil Jeffries.
