Barclay: Jaguar sees Gen3 Formula E era as a reset
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The only team to retain their driver line-up in full going into the Gen3 era, Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal James Barclay states that despite the team’s positive form over the past two seasons, they aren’t going into Gen3 with any expectations of success.

Kiwi Mitch Evans has been part of the British aqyad since it entered the sport in Season 3, picking up six wins and 12 podiums for the manufacturer. Speaking to why they decided to keep the same lineup going into Season 9, Barclay said: “We want to reduce the variables, we don’t want to add more.”

Jaguar enjoyed a successful season last year as it finished second in the Teams’ Championship, while Evans came close to taking the Drivers’ title for the team.

Speaking to whether this continued desire for success is still with the team Barclay said: “As a team, we are incredibly hungry; we always are and always have been.”

Looking ahead to Gen3, there are plenty of changes to both the sporting and technical regulations promising to shake up the order in Formula E.

Despite their previous successes, Barclay is aware of the challenges that lie ahead for the team but remained optimistic that the character of his team would help them continue to be successful.

“We are incredibly passionate about continuing to build on the success we’ve had as a team.”
