George Russell took his maiden grand prix win in what was a frantic race at the Interlagos Circuit – it also marked Mercedes’ first victory of the campaign.
Lewis Hamilton followed his team-mate close behind in the final stages, but was forced to settle for second place.

Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc were third and fourth for Ferrari, despite the latter making contact with Lando Norris in the opening laps of the race and being sent to the back of the field.
Fernando Alonso scored strong points for Alpine in fifth place, ahead of the Red Bull duo of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
