Andretti Autosport has announced that Marco Andretti will return for the 2023 Indy 500 in the team’s #98 entry.
The confirmation comes as KULR Technology has been retained as a primary sponsor for the car, which will allow Andretti to make his 18th Indy 500 start next year.
“We are thrilled to welcome back Marco Andretti as a KULR Ambassador as we return to Andretti Autosport for the 2023 Indy 500,” said KULR Technology Group President and COO, Keith Cochran.
“Marco authentically embodies the spirit of our brand. His dedication to his craft and the motorsport industry are just some of the reasons we believe he is the perfect person to represent KULR Technology as we continue to expand our energy management platform.”
Andretti stepped back from full time IndyCar competition in 2021, and has been running the Indy 500 alone since then.
He has finished 19th and 22nd since deciding to race in only one race per year, but has eight top ten finishes to his name in his 17 previous Indy 500 starts.
KULR joined on as a sponsor for his lone race last season, which served as the third-generation driver’s 250th career IndyCar start.
The pioneering lithium ion battery safety brand also partners with Andretti Autosport’s Extreme E venture, and both sides of the agreement find the arrangement beneficial.
Andretti will race alongside his four full time team-mates in May, and will also take part in the open test on April 20-21 to get back in the groove ahead of the two-week event in late May.
