Gabriel Bortoleto has become the first driver to be announced for the 2023 FIA Formula 3 season, after he was confirmed at Trident.
Bortoleto was present with Trident at the post-season F3 test from Jerez, and set the fastest lap time across the three days of on-track action.
“I am extremely delighted for the chance to compete in the 2023 FIA Formula 3 Championship with a high-level team like Trident Motorsport,” said Bortoleto.
“I would like to thank every member of the team for the warm welcome I have been given. I feel ready for a new chapter in my career and to move to a higher series in single-seaters. I will put my best effort to make the most of this great opportunity.”
Bortoleto currently competes in the Formula Regional European Championship for R-ace GP. He currently sits sixth in the Drivers’ standings with two rounds in Barcelona and Mugello still to go.
He has four podiums, including one win, to his name in the category as well as a win in the Formula Regional Asian Championship which took place at the start of 2022. The result bodes quite well, as the series featured F3 talents such as Arthur Leclerc and Isack Hadjar.
The 17-year-old recently signed with A14 Management, a driver management company ran by the two-time Formula 1 World Champion, Fernando Alonso.
