The grid for Formula 1’s Italian Grand Prix is set to be severely shaken up amid a spate of penalties.
For the second time in three events several drivers have opted to fit fresh components relating either to the power unit or the gearbox.
As it stands nine drivers – almost half of the field – face a sanction.
World Champion Max Verstappen and Alpine’s Esteban Ocon are due to drop five places each respectively due to a fresh engine.
Verstappen’s Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez has taken a 10-place penalty while a trio of drivers – Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas and both Haas racers – have a 15-place demotion.
Three drivers – Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda – have automatic demotions to the back.
That trio will line up in the order in which they qualify.
