Van Amersfoort Racing has confirmed that David Beckmann will remain with the squad for the remainder of the Formula 2 season.
Beckmann joined VAR at Silverstone, in place of the suspended Amaury Cordeel, and returned to the squad for the most recent rounds at Paul Ricard and the Hungaroring, replacing Jake Hughes after he contracted Covid-19.
Ahead of the final four rounds of the campaign, the first of which takes place this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, VAR has opted to keep Beckmann in the #24 car.
In a statement VAR outlined that Hughes ‘has indicated [he wants] to increase his already strong involvement in Formula E’.
Hughes has acted as the reserve and development driver for the now-departed Mercedes Formula E team.
Beckmann has yet to pick up points with VAR but scored with eighth place at Imola when he was a stand-in for Charouz Racing System.
The German had a truncated 2021 campaign with Charouz and Campos, scoring two podiums for the Czechia-based team.
