As Seoul gets ready to host the 100th Formula E race and Season 8 finale, the last practice session of the weekend saw Mortara topping the timesheet after falling out of the title fight in Round 15
The third practice session of the weekend – and the last for the gen2 cars this season – took place on a dry, hotter track compared to the damp streets that greeted Formula E yesterday in Seoul.
With a chance of more rain falling after Qualifying, Edoardo Mortara topped FP3 with the best time of the weekend so far – 1:21.019, three tenths faster than Antonio Felix Da Costa in P2.
Round 15 winner Mitch Evans spent most of the session in and out the pits, but managed a 4th place behind Andretti’s Jake Dennis before the chequered flag.
The Jaguar driver will aim for the first slot on the grid in the upcoming Qualifying round, needing the 3 additional points of pole position in his final fight for the title against Stoffel Vandoorne.
The Belgian kept close to Evans in P6, with Lucas Di Grassi slotting between the championship rivals in P5. Half a tenth slower, Robin Frijns ended the session in P7, followed by André Lotterer and then nine drivers all within a tenth of his best time.
Nick Cassidy and Oliver Turvey rounded up the top 10 in a session filled still with some minor technical issues and drivers going too far in their final quest for the limit and ending up in the barriers like Oliver Askew.
Sacha Fenestraz made his Formula E debut, replacing Antonio Giovinazzi in the 99 Dragon-Penske after the Italian suffered an injury to his wrist during Round 15.
Qualifying for Round 16 will start at 11:40AM local time, 03:40 BST.
