The Chip Ganassi-run Cadillacs set the pace in practice 2 for the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, with Sebastien Bourdais ahead of Alex Lynn.
The Frenchman set a time of 1:10.990 in the #01 Cadillac, 0.077 faster than his British teammate in the sister car, #02 Cadillac.
Practice 1’s pacesetter, Pipo Derani, was third fastest in the #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac, just 0.015 off Lynn and 0.092 off Bourdais, making second practice a much closer affair than first practice.
After GTYD went fastest in first practice in the GT ranks, the GTD Pro runners reclaimed the crown in this session. Mathieu Jaminet, in the #9 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3R, was quickest on a 1:18.874, followed by Conor de Phillippi, 0.041 slower in the #25 BMW Team RLL M4 GT3.
Bizarrely, Jordan Taylor in the #3 Corvette set an identical time to Phillippi — 1:18.915 — but set it after the BMW driver, so was classified third.
In GTD, Frederik Schandorff was fastest for #70 Inception Racing McLaren 720S GT3, on a 1:19.490. Mike Skeen was second for #32 Team Korthoff Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3, while Robby Foley in the #96 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 was third in class.
