Alfa Romeo driver Valtteri Bottas will run a special Australian-themed helmet for Formula 1’s return to Melbourne.
The Australian GP was the first race to be cancelled because of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, with the first cases reported on the Friday morning before track action was set to begin. The subsequent race in 2021 was also canned.
2022 marks F1’s first visit to Albert Park in two years and Bottas is celebrating that with a one-off beach-themed helmet, which includes famous Aussie traditions such as a cork hat and kangaroos.
In a nod to the war in Ukraine, a beach hut is painted in the colours of the flags country.
