Anthony Davidson will join the commentary team for the FIA World Endurance Championship for the 2022 season.
The former world champion will join the existing duo of Martin Haven and Graham Goodwin in the commentary booth. Louise Beckett will continue as pit lane reporter.
Davidson effectively takes the place of Allan McNish as the third commentator, with McNish set to focus on ‘other commitments’. The Scotsman has a relationship with Audi, which is preparing to return to top-level prototype racing in 2023.
Davidson already has plenty of experience in motorsports broadcasting, having served as analyst for Sky Sports’ F1 coverage for a number of years. He is also still contracted to the Mercedes Formula One team as a simulator driver.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the commentary team this season to cover the FIA World Endurance Championship,” said Davidson. “To have the opportunity to be involved in the series that I’ve been a part of since 2012, now from behind the microphone, fills me with excitement and I’m really looking forward to getting started.”
The 13-time WEC race winner announced his retirement from competitive racing at last year’s WEC season closer in Bahrain.
After starting his career in Formula One, he transitioned to sportscars and enjoyed outings with Aston Martin and Peugeot before joining Toyota for the newly established world championship.
He was crowned world champion with the Japanese manufacturer in 2014 before leaving to join the DragonSpeed LMP2 team and concluded his career with three competitive seasons at JOTA.
