KÜS Team Bernhard, the team owned by two-time Le Mans winner Timo Bernhard, will enter the 2022 DTM with a single-car Porsche entry.
The team’s #24 Porsche 911 GT3 R will be driven by Porsche factory driver Thomas Preining.
The squad has previously contested the likes of the ADAC GT Masters, as well as the Intercontinental GT Challenge.
The 2022 season marks the first year in which Porsche will have a full-season presence in DTM, with KÜS Team Bernhard joined by a two-car effort from SSR Performance.
“This is a fully new challenge,” said Bernhard. “I am very proud of being allowed to announce our new top-notch program for the 2022 season.
“We will be racing in DTM with a Porsche 911 GT3 R. I think that after six years in ADAC GT Masters, we are well prepared for it. “With our driver Thomas Preining, we have an important constant factor in our team. I know about his qualities and I am very happy that he is part of our program.”
Preining is not a newcomer to Bernhard’s squad, as the Austrian raced with the team during the 2021 ADAC GT Masters campaign alongside Christian Engelhart.
“I am super excited and motivated for the DTM next year,” said Preining. “Since I learned about this, I have been working avidly every day.”
After all, I want to be prepared for this season in the best possible way in order to get the project off to a good start right away. I have full confidence in the team and everyone involved.
“I think that we should be definitely taken into account and that we are able to achieve something.”
