French team Ultimate have announced plans to compete in the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship.
The squad have submitted an application to be entered into the LMP2 Pro/Am category for the upcoming season.
It aims to field a single ORECA 07-Gibson, driven by Francois Heriau and Matthieu and Jean-Baptiste Lahaye. Technical support for the effort will be provided by French outfit Tech1 Racing, which is also responsible for operating the Panis Racing LMP2 effort in the European Le Mans Series.
It should be noted that the team’s entry application is yet to be approved by WEC’s selection committee.
The Ultimate team, based out of Rennes, started racing in de V de V series in 2013 and subsequently spent several seasons competing in the LMP3 class in the European Le Mans Series.
Heriaud and the Lahayes have competed together since the start of the team’s racing history.
This year, it graduated to the LMP2 Pro/Am class on the ELMS, taking two class wins at Barcelona and the Red Bull Ring.
