Formula 1 has outlined where it will monitor track limits at this weekend’s Qatar Grand Prix.
The sport is venturing to the Losail International Circuit for the first time, as the venue hosts the third-to-last round of the 2021 campaign.
Track limits will be enforced at five corners throughout the weekend.
Race director Michael Masi has clarified that at Turns 4, 12, 13, 14 and 16, any “lap time achieved during any practice session or the race by leaving the track…will result in that lap time being invalidated by the stewards”.
Teams will be informed via the official messaging system if a driver fails to properly negotiate the exit of the aforementioned corners.
Furthermore, on the third occasion of a driver failing to successfully navigate the corners during the race, the driver “will be shown a black and white flag” and “any further cutting will then be reported to the stewards”.
Qatar, which was inserted into the calendar in light of Australia’s absence, heads the first of three races in the Gulf region to conclude the 2021 season.
