AF Corse will enter the LMP2 category in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2022.
The Italian squad, which currently also operates the Ferrari factory effort in GTE Pro, will enter a single ORECA 07-Gibson in the secondary prototype class.
The effort will be built around bronze-rated driver Francois Perrodo, who last raced in LMP2 during the 2018/19 Super Season with TDS Racing.
The Frenchman will be partnered by his two current co-drivers in the GTE Am category: Nicklas Nielsen and Alessio Rovera.
The trio, which recently won the 24 Hours of Le Mans category, will also contest the European Le Mans Series alongside the team’s WEC programme.
While Perrodo has previous LMP2 experience, the move to LMP2 will provide new challenges for Nielsen and Rovera. Both drivers have raced Ferrari machinery in various series, but will be new to prototype racing.
AF Corse has operated prototype machinery in the past, as it was responsible for running the Cetilar Racing Dallara LMP2 effort before the team switched to GTE Am for the 2021 season.
The team is also gearing up for its factory Le Mans Hypercar effort with Ferrari, which will make its debut in 2023.
