Pirelli has secured a date to complete the final laps of this year’s 18-inch tyre test programme.
The test will take place on October 18 at the Circuit Paul Ricard, home of the French Grand Prix, with Alpine in attendance.
It will be run under wet conditions, with Pirelli gathering data on the Intermediate and Wet tyre compounds.
Pirelli’s 2021 programme was scheduled to conclude on September 16 at Magny-Cours, however technical issues for the Alpine car meant zero laps were completed.
Pirelli, who has been Formula 1’s sole tyre supplier since 2011, successfully conversed with the FIA over a new date, which allows it to finish its schedule for the year.
18-inch tyres will be used full-time in F1 in 2022 and will be introduced as part of a wider set of new technical regulations.
Pirelli began its 2021 test programme in February and has visited eight circuits throughout the year with the new tyres in preparation for next season.
