Final practice for Formula 1’s Russian Grand Prix has been cancelled due to weather conditions.
Heavy rain has been falling at Sochi Autodrom through Saturday morning and ahead of the scheduled start of the one-hour session it was decided to abandon proceedings.
Marshals have also been collected from their posts in order to take shelter in the dry.
Qualifying is currently scheduled for 15:00 local time.
Formula 1 will attempt to run qualifying as planned, with conditions expected to slightly ease around 13:30 local time, though fading light is a potential issue if there are further delays. Sunset is at 18:15.
If qualifying cannot run on Saturday then it will be rescheduled for Sunday morning.
The current forecast indicates that fine and dry weather will prevail on Sunday.
Formula 2’s Race 1, which was due to be held on Saturday morning, was postponed.
Formula 2’s Race 2, along with Formula 3’s Race 2, are due to be held on Saturday.
Valtteri Bottas led a Mercedes 1-2 in both dry-weather sessions held at the circuit on Friday.
