Jake Hughes will return to the FIA Formula 2 grid for this weekend’s round at Monza.
Hughes will take the seat at HWA Racelab previously occupied by Matteo Nannini and Jack Aitken.
Hughes previously competed in Formula 2 for the team at last year’s Sochi event.
He also carries out simulator duties for Mercedes in Formula 1 and Formula E.
The 27-year-old has spent several years in Formula 3-level categories, taking seven wins across European F3, the GP3 Series and FIA Formula 3.
“I’m delighted to be reuniting with HWA for Monza,” said Hughes. “I really enjoyed my first time in the F2 car at Sochi last year with the team and I’m looking forward to stepping back in this weekend.
“I managed to take a victory here in 2020 with the team in F3, so I’m feeling confident that we can do another good job together this weekend despite that lack of preparation!
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone at HWA for showing their trust in me once again and bringing me onboard.”
