DTM will visit the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao for the first time as part of its 2022 calendar.
The German series unveiled its schedule for 2022 on Friday, featuring nine events including Portimao and Spa-Francorchamps.
The season will kick off at the Portuguese GP venue on April 29-May 1, marking the first time DTM has visited the Algarve.
Round two takes place at the Lausitzring on May 20-22, with the venues for rounds three and four yet to be determined.
Round five is held at the Norisring on July 1-3, followed by a weekend on the Nürburgring on August 26-28.
After that, the series makes a return to the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps after a one-year absence. The championship returned to Spa in 2020 after a long hiatus, but was left off the calendar for 2021.
The current date set for the DTM’s return to Spa is September 09-11, although that is yet to be confirmed. The penultimate round is held at the Red Bull Ring on September 23-25, before the season finale is held at Hockenheim on October 7-9.
“We are delighted to be presenting the race calendar for 2022 at this early stage already,” said Frederic Elsner, ITR Director Events and Operations. “We have been working on it really hard, because it was extremely important for us to provide planning security and a perspective for the teams and partners that are already involved or are interested.
“Now, we are looking forward to a good conclusion of the highly exciting current season and then equally spectacular races in 2022. For us, it is great to see how big the interest for the 2022 DTM already is.”
