Kelvin van der Linde has secured pole position for the Saturday DTM race at Zolder.
The South African driver took the top spot in qualifying with a late flying lap in his Team Abt Sportsline Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo, snatching away pole with a time of 01:27:054.
Van der Linde outqualified Team HRT’s Maximilian Götz by just 0.021s, with the Walkenhorst Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 of Marco Wittmann in third place.
Alex Albon took fourth in the AlphaTauri AF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo, with the second Team HRT Mercedes driven by Vincent Abril rounding out the top five less than two-tenths of a second off pole position.
Van der Linde’s team-mate Mike Rockenfeller was sixth, ahead of Lausitzring winner Philip Ellis and home hero Esteban Muth. Muth’s T3 Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo, which will start this afternoon’s race in eighth place, features a special one-off livery.
Nico Müller and Liam Lawson completed the top ten in ninth and tenth respectively, ahead of Sheldon van der Linde, Lucas Auer, Maximilian Buhk and Daniel Juncadella.
Arjun Maini outqualified the debuting Christian Klien to go fifteenth fastest. Klien took sixteenth place in his black-and-gold JP Motorsport McLaren 720S GT3 as both the team and the former Formula One driver make their series debut at Zolder this weekend.
Dev Gore took seventeenth, with the grid rounded out by Esmee Hawkey, Sophia Floersch and Timo Glock.
