Honda Performance Development has unveiled an updated version of its GT3 challenger, set to make its race debut in 2022.
The car, called the Acura NSX GT3 Evo22, is an evolution of the current NSX GT3 competing in various championships around the globe, including the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. It will be homologated through to 2024.
“We are extremely pleased to announce this latest development of the already highly-successful Acura NSX GT3,” said John Whiteman, HPD Manager, Commercial Motorsports.
“While the NSX has won races and titles in some of the world’s most prestigious GT3 series, we believe in constantly improving our products and providing the best possible equipment and support for our Acura Motorsports teams.”
HPD has made a number of changes to the car, which it says is aimed at addressing team and driver needs.
This includes updated intercoolers, reversed spring rates and suspension geometry adjustments, increased fluid tank sizes, wheel system revisions for faster tyre changes and a new, FIA-mandated rain light.
New options will also be available for the air conditioning system and headlight. The chassis will be built in Ohio, with final assembly taking place in Italy.
The NSX GT3 first made its racing debut in 2017 and has since gone on to achieve success in multiple series worldwide, notably in IMSA where it took the GTD title with Meyer Shank Racing in both 2019 and 2020.
