Harry Tincknell has set the fastest time in opening practice for the IMSA Sports Car Weekend at Road America. The session was delayed and shortened due to bad weather in the area.
Tincknell topped the session, which was only 30 minutes, with a best time of 02:09:769 in the #55 Mazda RT24-P. Tincknell was 0.399s quicker than Filipe Albuquerque in the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Acura ARX-05.
Kevin Magnussen took third for Chip Ganassi Racing, ahead of Mustang Sampling’s Tristan Vautier and the #60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura driven by Dane Cameron.
The #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-VR did not set a time as one of five cars that did not set a lap time.
The session at Road America was severely comprimised as a result of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms that caused several sessions for support series to be cancelled.
The opening practice session for the WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, with IMSA eventually settling on a shortened session that started at 6 pm local time.
Mikkel Jensen set the quickest time in LMP2 for PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports, with Oliver Askew topping LMP3 in the #36 Andretti Autosport Ligier JS P320
Laurens Vanthoor was the fastest GT runner on track, as the Belgian’s time of 02:22:076 in the #9 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R was faster than Antonio Garcia’s quickest time in the #3 Corvette C8.R. Garcia was fastest in GTLM, posting a 02:23:760.
The second and final practice session at Road America takes place at 9:55 AM Eastern Time on Saturday.
