The WeatherTech 240 at Watkins Glen has been red flagged with ninety minutes of racing remaining due to severe weather in the area.
Rain has begun to fall at the New York circuit before the red flag was called, but when a Stage 3 weather warning, including lightning, came in for the area, IMSA opted to red flag the race.
The race is currently being led by the #55 Mazda RT24-P of Harry Tincknell. Tincknell took the lead of the race when he fought his way past the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Acura ARX-05 at turn one.
That was a pass for second place as the #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-VR was in the lead on an off-sequence strategy, but Tincknell moved into the lead when the Cadillac came in for its second stop.
Kevin Magnussen sits in third in the #01 Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac DPi-VR, having made contact with the #60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura ARX-05 of Olivier Pla at the start.
LMP2 is being led by the #52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports ORECA 07-Gibson of Mikkel Jensen, with Gabriel Aubry second for Tower Motorsports and Tristan Nunez third for WIN Autosport.
Tommy Milner leads GTLM for Corvette Racing ahead of team-mate Antonio Garcia, with Matt Campbell third in the WeatherTech Porsche 911 RSR-19.
LMP3 is in the hands of Andretti Autosport, with the #36 Ligier JS P320 first after Jarett Andretti took the lead early on, with Oliver Askew driving at the time of the red flag.
Finally, Vasser Sullivan’s #12 Lexus RC F GT3 captured the lead in GTD at the start thanks to Frankie Montecalvo, and continues to lead ahead of the #39 CarBahn Racing with Peregrine Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo of Jeff Westphal.
