Alice Powell will start on pole for the season-opening W Series race at the Red Bull Ring after beating fellow Britain Sarah Moore by 0.177s.
Powell, racing for the Racing X team, outpaced her rivals on Friday afternoon to snatch her maiden W Series pole with a best time of 1:28.964.
Scuderia W saw its two drivers make the top three with Moore second ahead of team-mate Belen Garcia, two-tenths adrift.
M. Forbes’ and last year’s runner-up, Beitske Visser, was fourth ahead of Ecurie W’s Emma Kimiläinen, who topped the session early on before dropping down the order as those around her improved. Jessica Hawkins was sixth.
Series champion Jamie Chadwick, who won the maiden season of W Series in 2019, was only. eighth for Veloce Racing. She was less than four tenths shy of pole in whats a competitive session.
The top 16 were covered by less than a second, with only Sabre Cook and Gosia Rdest outside of that at 1.068s and 1.373s respectively.
