W Series will be shown in 175 markets after striking new broadcast deals with major networks, series chief executive officer Catherine Bond Muir confirmed.
The all-female motorsport series is only in its second season after last year’s events were cancelled, but having struck a deal to support Formula 1 events this year, interest in the series has risen and attracted new broadcast partners.
Whilst further details on other partners are to be released, the announcement opens up a market of more than 500 million viewers across 175 territories, with major networks such as Channel 4, Sky Deutschland, Ziggo, Canal+ and beIN showing live coverage.
“We are delighted to see such an incredible appetite for W Series among the world’s leading broadcasters. Our mission is to showcase our fantastic grid of female drivers and the exciting racing they produce to as many fans around the world as we possibly can, and this can’t happen without the enthusiastic support of a global network of broadcasters,” commented Bond Muir.
“There is no doubt that our partnership with Formula 1 this season has made a decisive difference to the way W Series has been recognised. That has made it far easier to engage with the key broadcasters. Additionally, having a truly international grid of drivers means there is strong support from their home territories.”
W Series’ second season starts in Austria on June 26, supporting the Styrian Grand Prix.
