The FIA European Rally Championship returns to action on 18 – 20 June with the ORLEN 77th Rally Poland.
A record 40 drivers will enter in Rally2 machinery on the high speed gravel event, with Alexey Lukyanuk leading the crews as he looks to defend his ERC title in a Citroen C3 Rally2. There will also be a trio of WRC and WRC2 drivers competing on the event, with Craig Breen, Andreas Mikkelsen and Nikolay Gryazin taking part.
JWRC entrant Jon Armstrong will also compete in ERC Junior, driving a Fiesta Rally3 for the first time – a step up from driving the Rally4 Fiesta that he uses in the JWRC. Armstrong will be driving one of the six new Rally3 Fiesta’s that are being debuted on the event by M-Sport Poland.
In total, 72 crews have registered for this season’s ERC championships across ERC, ERC Junior, ERC2, ERC3, ERC3 Junior and ERC4. Covering eight rounds, after Poland the championship visits Latvia, Italy, Czech Republic, a double visit to Portugal, Hungary and a season finale in Gran Canaria.
Jean-Baptiste Ley, the ERC Co-ordinator, Eurosport Events, said: “With 72 ERC registered crews entered, it’s clear the level of interest in the ERC is truly phenomenal and it’s a fantastic way to help the organisers of ORLEN 77th Rally Poland celebrate the event’s 100th anniversary. While the entry list is big in terms of numbers, it’s also massive in terms of quality and variety, which is testament to the championship’s accessibility and appeal.
