Kevin Estre has continued his excellent run of momentum with Porsche by capturing GTE Pro pole position for the Eight Hours of Portimao.
The Nürburgring 24 Hours winner posted a best time of 01:37:986 to take pole in the #92 Porsche 911 RSR-19, which was enough to defeat the #51 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE Evo in the hands of James Calado by 0.373s.
Gianmaria Bruni posted the third fastest time in the #91 Porsche 911 RSR-19, lapping 0.403s slower than his team-mate.
Daniel Serra, driving the #52 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo, failed to set a lap time.
In GTE Am, an all-Porsche battle for supremacy was decided at the dying stages by Egidio Perfetti.
Perfetti’s #56 Team Project 1 Porsche 911 RSR-19 held the top spot early on before the #77 Dempsey-Proton Porsche 911 RSR-19 of Christian Ried took it over.
Ried then improved with a sereis of faster laps and seemed safe for pole, until Perfetti struck back with a late flyer, posting a 01:40:191 and outqualifying his fellow Porsche gentleman driver by half a tenth.
Ried will line-up second, with Roberto Lacorte third for Cetilar Racing and Thomas Flohr fourth for AF Corse, despite an early spin.
The top six was rounded out by Iron Lynx’ Manuela Gostner and championship leader Francois Perrodo in the #83 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE Evo.
