James Small, crew chief for Martin Truex Jr. on the #19 Joe Gibbs Racing team, has been fined $10,000 after Sunday’s Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway.
The penalty was the result of a loose or missing lug nut on the #19 at the end of the race.
Truex finished third at Sonoma and currently sits sixth in the NASCAR Cup Series standings with 527 points.
Small’s fine was the only penalty issued by NASCAR to a national-level competitor after last weekend that also included a NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Saturday.
