Formula 1 has announced that the Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) will take over exclusive rights for the championship’s coverage in the Netherlands from 2022.
Formula 1 has been shown on Ziggo Sports since 2013 but from 2022 will be shown on NENT Group’s Viaplay streaming service.
As part of the three-year deal all races will be shown live, along with qualifying and free practice, while six events – including the Dutch Grand Prix – will be made available on a free-to-air basis.
F1 TV Pro will continue to be available in the country.
“Passion for Formula 1 is at an all-time high in the Netherlands right now and we’re delighted to be expanding our partnership with NENT Group who have been long-standing partners in Scandinavia and other territories,” said Formula 1 Head of Media Rights Ian Holmes.
“Given their commitment to unparalleled coverage and the promotion of Formula 1, we have no doubt that they will bring fans the sport they love through this exciting new platform.
“We look forward to seeing the innovative programming NENT Group have planned and cannot wait to return to the Netherlands later this year for the Dutch Grand Prix.”
