Glickenhaus Racing has revealed the line-up for its one-car effort at next month’s Eight Hours of Portimao, which will mark the American squad’s FIA World Endurance Championship debut.
Driving duties in the team’s maiden world championship start will be carried out by Ryan Briscoe, Romain Dumas and Richard Westbrook.
The team announced a seven-man driver squad earlier in the year, but at the time would not unveil which drivers will compete at which rounds.
The full extent of its line-up for the the remainder of the season remains to be confirmed, as the team will only be entering one of its two 007 Le Mans Hypercars at the upcoming Eight Hours of Portimao.
Dumas, Westbrook and Briscoe will be giving the car its race debut at the Portuguese circuit, while the sister car will likely make its debut at the next round of Monza. The team will first give the second car a full rebuild after undergoing the planned 30-hour endurance test at Motorland Aragon.
This means that the Hypercar field will be up to full strength for the second round of the 2021 season. Glickenhaus missed the season-opening Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, which saw only Alpine and Toyota present.
Briscoe, 39, will make his first WEC start outside of Le Mans at Portimao. The Australian previously raced for Wayne Taylor Racing in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, but lost his seat at the end of the 2020 season.
Dumas, meanwhile, last raced in the WEC with Signatech Alpine in 2017, but has continued to race for every year since his first start in 2001. The three-time Le Mans winner has been closely involved in the 007’s development, including the first rollouts at Vallelunga earlier this year.
Westbrook was left without a drive in the WEC after the closure of Aston Martin’s factory GTE Pro squad at the end of the 2020 season.
