Carlin has announced that it will not be competing in this weekend’s GMR Grand Prix from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
Max Chilton, the team’s driver for the road course races this year, ran into some travel troubles and was not able to make it to the track.
The team worked with IndyCar to attempt to get everything sorted in time, but time has expired before a solution was reached.
Instead of rushing to find a replacement driver, the Carlin crew decided to use the extra time to prepare for the Indy 500 which takes place in just over two weeks’ time.
The team worked until the last minute to make arrangements, but was forced to make the announcement less than an hour before the first practice session of the weekend.
Carlin’s Indy Lights operations are unaffected and the two cars will compete in the support series races as planned.
This weekend’s GMR Grand Prix will have 25 cars on the grid when the green flag flies Saturday at 14:00 Eastern Time.
