La Filière Frédéric Sausset by SRT41 has been entered into the 24 Hours of Le Mans as the first Garage 56 entrant since the 2016 edition of the race.
The team will field a special, Graff-prepared ORECA 07-Gibson for a pair of disabled drivers to compete in the French endurance classic.
Sausset, a quadruple amputee, made history when he drove a specially adapted Morgan LMP2 to the finish of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2016.
Now a team-manager, Sausset will field his own team with Takuma Aoki and Nigel Bailly set to drive the #84 ORECA. Both Aoki and Bailly are paralyzed from the waist down and will pilot the car using hand controls on the steering wheel.
While not yet named on the entry list, it is believed that European Le Mans Series race winner Francois Heriau will compete the line-up for the 89th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In order to prepare for Le Mans, Aoki, Bailly and the team will enter a pair of European Le Mans Series rounds with Pierre Sancinena joining them at those two races.
The team originally planned to contest last year’s Le Mans, but those plans were derailed by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
