The Mercedes Formula 1 team has teased fans with a glimpse of what could be its 2021 livery, which will adorn the W12.
The reigning champions have been teasing fans on social media with up close shots of its car, including the roll hoop which continues to feature ‘INEOS’ branding following the chemical companies one-third investment in the team.
It also posted a photo of the front-wing which features Petronas branding in its traditional turquoise blue.
In its latest post the team showed off the entire car, albeit devoid of sponsor decals with just base colours laid down.
The team, which has traditionally been called ‘The Silver Arrows’ and has run a majority silver livery, switched to an all-black design last season in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Mercedes confirmed that the black theme would continue into 2021, but the teaser shows the black fading into silver towards the rear of the car, where last year it displayed hundreds of small Mercedes star logos, including a single red star in memory of F1 three-time champion Niki Lauda.
The team is set to unveil its W12 on March 2nd with a virtual launch which will include its drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas.
The Brackley-based squad enters the 2021 season looking to continue its domination of F1’s turbo-hybrid era, chasing an eighth consecutive Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championship.
