Corvette Racing will compete at the 8 Hours of Portimao, the opening round for the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship.
The American manufacturer will enter a single Corvette C8.R, with the pairing of Antonio Garcia and Oliver Gavin set to pilot the #63 machine. It marks the first time Corvette has contested a standalone WEC round since Lone Star Le Mans in February 2020.
It boosts the class count for GTE Pro up to five, as the lone Corvette joins the full-season entries from Porsche and Ferrari.
Elsewhere on the entry list for the first round of the 2021 campaign, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus is notably missing from the Hypercar category, with only Toyota’s pair of GR010 Hybrid and the single Alpine A480-Gibson set to contest the opening round.
In LMP2, Team WRT has seen its full line-up confirmed for its LMP2 debut as Robin Frijns is joined by Ferdinand Habsburg and Charles Milesi.
In GTE Am, Dempsey-Proton Racing has seen the line-up for its #77 Porsche 911 RSR-19 confirmed as team owner Christian Ried is joined by Jaxon Evans and Matt Campbell. Its #88 car has so far only seen Julien Andlauer confirmed.
Several other teams in class are yet to confirm their line-ups, with Team Project 1, Cetilar Racing, GR Racing, Aston Martin Racing and D’Station Racing all still having one or two driver slots open.
