Sergio Perez has revealed his new-look helmet design for the 2021 Formula 1 season, his first with Red Bull Racing.
The Mexican has joined the Milton Keynes-based squad alongside Max Verstappen on a one-year deal, replacing Alexander Albon.
His helmet livery sees the re-introduction of the neon yellow colour that he used earlier in his F1 career.
From 2017 to 2020, Perez was restricted to running a predominately pink colour with Force India/Racing Point, as part of the team’s title sponsorship deal with BWT.
As well as the yellow colour and Red Bull branding that features on Perez’s new helmet, the Mexican flag is present at the top of the lid alongside his number 11, while a ‘Never Give Up’ slogan is inked on the back.
“I’m very pleased to finally unveil my racing helmet, my first Red Bull helmet in my career,” Perez said. “I was so much looking forward to this moment since I signed for Red Bull.
“Obviously the helmet is something very special for the driver. I really hope you like it. As you know, yellow has always been my colour but in the past, I had to keep it pink.
“So I’m pleased to go back to a yellow helmet. We got the flag on top, which is very nice. While I’m driving, the on board camera always puts the flag on top, so for me, a Mexican, it’s something very special.
“Another special touch is the ‘Never Give Up’ on the back. Every time I put the helmet on, I can see it, it’s just like a reminder, not to give up at all.
“I have to say that I’m very happy with my helmet, it’s my most favourite helmet in my career. I’ve had plenty of helmets but this one to me is very special.”
Red Bull launched its 2021 car, the RB16B, on Tuesday morning ahead of its first on-track outing on Wednesday at Silverstone with Perez and Verstappen.
