Carvana Racing has revealed a short video showcasing the livery for Jimmie Johnson’s maiden season in the NTT IndyCar series.
The car features the title sponsor heavily, and incorporates a two-tone blue design with gold highlights on the engine cover and around the protective Aeroscreen.
The livery takes cues, understandably, from Carvana’s corporate logo, which features a blue logo with a golden halo above an icon of a passenger car.
Carvana was announced as Johnson’s title sponsor in October of last year, with the internet-based car sales company putting it’s sizeable marketing presence behind the veteran racer.
Johnson, a seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, will be making the switch to IndyCar this season after retiring from stock car racing at the end of a pandemic-affected 2020.
The California-native had been eyeing up IndyCar as the next chapter in his career for quite some time. He even attended a couple test sessions and races throughout the past year to help cement his decision to join the series.
Johnson has already completed some testing himself in his new Chip Ganassi Racing ride earlier this year, remarking that the most difficult aspect to get used to is trusting the downforce levels of the open wheel car.
The 45-year-old will be running the season’s 13 street and road course events, with Tony Kanaan stepping into the 48 for the four oval races, including the Indianapolis 500.
The first race of the 2021 IndyCar season will take place April 18 from Barber Motorsports Park.
