The Euroformula Open series has tweaked its points system to reward the driver who makes the most progress in each race.
The Spain-based championship, which uses the F3-style Dallara 320, uses Formula 1’s system of 25 points for a win, down to one for 10th, and also a point for pole and fastest lap.
But for 2021 it will amend its system and additionally award two points to the driver who gains the most spots from their grid position in each race.
The 2020 title was won by former Renault junior Yi Yifei, who stepped down to the category after spending the previous year in FIA Formula 3.
The division has also switched to running three races per weekend, rather than the previous two, having trialled a revised format at a handful of 2020 rounds.
The 2021 season is due to get underway at Portimao in late April.
