Mathieu Jaminet has been ruled out of this weekend’s Rolex 24 at Daytona with RWR Eurasia after having tested positive for COVID-19.
Jaminet was supposed to make his LMP2 debut, driving the #51 Ligier JS P217-Gibson alongside Salih Yoluc, Austin Dillon and Cody Ware, but tested positive after having competed in the Dubai 24 Hours in a victorious effort earlier this month.
According to the team, Jaminet was asymptomatic and in good health, but has been unable to travel to Daytona and will not be taking part in the event.
“Obviously, I am very disappointed not to be racing in Daytona, but I am in good health and if anybody should get the chance in my absence, my good friend and teammate Sven would be my number one choice,” Jaminet said. “I will be watching and I’m sure that RWR Eurasia will have a good race.”
Instead, fellow Porsche factory driver Sven Müller has been drafted in as a late replacement to complete the team’s line-up. Like Jaminet, Müller will also be making his LMP2 debut.
The German has five previous Daytona starts to his name, all of which came in the GTD category.
